HAPPY MORNING CLINIC
The types and causes of acne, and how treatment varies by form and type.
Acne treatment
Structured treatment based on a clear understanding of the type and cause of your acne.
Comedonal acne
Sometimes called “millet-seed” acne (tiny bumps). When dead skin cells are not shed and a pore becomes blocked, a whitehead forms; when the pore opens, it becomes a blackhead. It makes skin tone look dull.
Inflammatory acne
A commonly seen form of acne: red bumps (papules) appear, with pus-filled spots and pain. Squeezing them the wrong way can leave dark marks and pitted scars.
Cystic acne
Inflammatory acne progresses, and several spots merge into a pouch-like cyst.
It is very painful and often leaves pitted scars.
Nodular acne
As breakouts keep coming back, they harden into firm lumps. It often appears around the jaw before or after a period.
The core inside the spot needs to be removed.
Acne conglobata
The most severe form of acne.
When extracted, it comes out as blood and pus.
Severe pain; multiple cores can leave deep scars.
Keloidal acne
Occurs depending on skin type.
Mostly appears on the jaw and neck after improper care of chronic, recurring acne
